Top MBA Colleges Other Than the IIMs That Accepts CAT Score

It remains one of the toughest entrance examinations and attracts graduate scholars from all the streams.

Top Non-IIM B-schools

Following is the list of management institutes that hold best ranks amongst the list of 30 top non-IIM institutes in India issued by National Institute Ranking Framework (NIRF) in 2017. The ranking of these B-schools is calculated based on various parameters.

These include research output, quality of students, refereed publications, industry interface, placement records and academic productivity. So go through the next sections to decide which of these B-schools suit you well for undergoing an MBA or PGDM course.

1- Management Development Institute (MDI), Gurgaon

MDI is a very famous B-school and is known to be the best for pursuing MBA.

Cut-off Score: MDI has CAT cut-off score every year of around 96th to 97th percentile.

Placements: The placement of MDI remains 100% at least for over a past decade. The average package of the MBA students in past year has been INR 19 LPA. The highest domestic offer has been remarkable at 28 LPA.

2- SP Jain Institute of Management & Research, Mumbai

SPJIMR is a well-established business school that was founded in 1981. It is a constituent college of BhartiyaVidyaBhawan based out at Mumbai.

Apart from CAT, SPJIMR also considers the scores of XAT and GMAT for admissions at its courses. Additionally, the profile and background of the candidates is assessed for selecting candidates for this college.

Cut-off Score: The minimum percentile for admissions to SPJIMR is 85th percentile in any- CAT, XAT and GMAT tests.

Placements: The placement of SPJIMR is even better than MDI. The MBA students have achieved an average package of INR 20 LPA in 2017.

3- National Institute of Industrial Engineering, Mumbai (NITIE)

Apart from its 12th position on the list of best management colleges, NITIE holds the 36th position amongst the best engineering colleges in India.

Cut-off Score: The cut-off of NITIE remains near to the 97th percentile in CAT.

Placements: NITIE has an excellent placement record over the years. Almost 100% management study students every year grab high managerial positions in some leading firms across the globe. The highest offered package in 2017 has been 39.5 LPA, the average package being 15 LPA.

4- Institute of Management Technology (IMT), Ghaziabad

IMT is a known name among the top B-schools in India. Apart from CAT, IMT Ghaziabad also considers the scores of XAT and GMAT for admissions to its courses.

Cut-off Score: The cut-off for admissions to IMT remains around 90th to 92nd percentile every year for CAT and XAT. However, you will require at least a score of 650 marks in GMAT for getting an admission to IMT.

Placements: The average package of IMT scholars was 11.26 LPA. The highest international offer for a student was 25 LPA.

5- Institute of Rural Management, Anand (IRMA)

IRMA is located in Anand, Gujarat. It is another recognized brand in the names of best Indian B-schools. It is an autonomous institute and known to have its distinct courses in Rural Management. Apart from accepting CAT scores for its Post Graduate Diploma in Rural Management Program and other courses, you also need to clear an additional test- Issue of Social Concern.

Cut-off Score:CAT cut-off generally stands around 85th to 90th percentile for admission to IRMA.

Placements: Placements are good in this college. The average package at IRMA remained at around INR 10 LPA.

6- International Management Institute (IMI), New Delhi

IMI is a unique institute that is supported and financially aided by various major corporates such as RPG Enterprises, Nestle, ITC, SAIL, Tata Chemicals, BOC and Williamson Magor. The institute was established in 1981 in collaboration with IMI Geneva (now IMD Lausanne).

The institute shares its international linkages with UNDP, World Bank, ILO, UNCTAD and Asian Productivity Organization. Apart from CAT, it also accepts GMAT scores for admissions to its courses.

Cut-off Score:CAT cut-off generally stands around 87th to 90th percentile. For GMAT, you need to score at least 600 marks.

Placements: The institute has maintained the trend of 100% placement record over the past years. The average package offered to the PGDM students of the college in 2017 was 12 LPA.

7- Institute of Management Studies, Banaras Hindu University (BHU)

IM-BHU was renamed from its prior name – Faculty of Management Studies, BHU (FMS-BHU). It is counted among the oldest B-schools across the country for MBA. Additionally, the course fee at this college for MBA is very low and affordable. This enables all students in our country to gain quality management education.

Cut-off Score: CAT cut-off for IM-BHU stands between 80th to 83rd percentile.

Placements: The average package of MBA students at this institute is around 7 LPA.

8- KIIT School of Management (KSOM), Bhubaneshwar

KSOM is also a good business school that you can opt after clearing CAT. This B-school was established in 1993 with the name – Institute of Business Administration and Training and is a constituent of Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology.

Apart from offering admissions through CAT, KSOM also accepts XAT, ATMA, CMAT, GMAT and MAT entrances for the admissions to their management courses. Apart from these, KSOM also conducts its individual test for admissions.

Cut-off Score: The cut-off for KSOM is around 80th percentile for CAT every year.

Placements: The package at this institute is more than 90% every year. The average package at the institute is around 5 LPA.
